So I may have to travel for work. And I really like the Lispworks for Linux that I bought a week ago. But both my laptops are Windows machines. So I downloaded VMWare Player, and a pre-built Debian "testing" environment, and so far, it Just Works. My laptop reaches the Internet over OpenVPN to my Linux desktop, which masquerades it out-bound. I fired up VMWare Player, logged in, and could login via ssh both to the host machine and my desktop without further configuration. I'm currently running a Synaptic update, and that too Just Worked.
Maybe I'll install a vnc server on the client so I can vnc directly into it instead of via the host. Of course it'd be really cool (cooler than it already is, of course) if I could hook the client directly to my KVM switch. I guess I'll have to settle ;) for hooking the host back up to my KVM and running the client in full-screen mode.
Anyway, Life is Good.
