slim-vim activity

I spent some time on my lunch hour today re-opening vim+ecl. I think a lot of Brad's trouble with slim-vim came from an incomplete, buggy, fragile Vim<->ECL interface, and I'd like to fix that. I also want to investigate and clean up the network interface, which has reentrancy problems (as I understand it).
