My consulting company called Tuesday morning and said IBM had requested that I "return to work immediately". So I did.
The life of a contractor is always intense.
Neither IBM nor my consulting company will give me any official word on my current end of contract. Not that it would make that much difference -- if they want to renew it at the end, they can, and if they want to terminate it early, they can. My friend Tom points out that I'm in the same boat as everybody else.
(In case it's not obvious by the fact that they rehired me the next day, my release was not related to my performance, just IBM wanting to fire 150k people. (Yes, I know that number is disputed; just a bit of harmless hyperbole. Nothing to see here, move along.))
